To help local villagers work at their doorstep and increase income while taking care of their children, Shi Jia resolutely returned to her hometown to start a new business. In 2021, Shi Jia was awarded the National March 8th Red Flag Bearer.

The serious problem of left-behind children lied in the lack of industries in local areas, and young people had to work outside for a living. To change this situation, Shi Jia decided to come home and started a new business about Miao embroidery with unique Miao characteristics.
In July 2017, Shi Jia established a company making Miao embroidery to provide paid training sessions on Miao embroidery skills for mothers who planned to work outside, allowing them to work nearby.
In 2023, the company was selected as a typical case of intangible cultural heritage workshops.
Shi Jia has always been very concerned about the economic and social development of her hometown. After being elected as a NPC member, Shi Jia conducted in-depth research and listened to the voice of the grassroots people.
Ethnic medicine is an important part of traditional Chinese medicine. After conducting visits and research, Shi Jia found that ethnic medicine represented by Tujia and Miao medicine has developed many unique and effective therapeutic techniques in the long-term clinical practice like the Miao bone-setting technique.
“However, there are still many problems in the development of ethnic medicine, such as incomplete systems and insufficient innovation.” As the NPC & CPPCC are about to be held, Shi Jia has prepared relevant suggestions.
She hopes to rely on the Xiangxi Minzu Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital to build a regional medical center for ethnic medicine in Wuling Mountain Area, create ethnic medical service systems and related industries that cover Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing and other places, and make the characteristic technologies, services and products of ethnic medicine benefit the masses.
